Join us for the finale of our season as we perform Donald Fraser’s choral arrangement of Elgar’s masterfully evocative Sea Pictures, preceded by Stanford’s lesser-known compositional gem Songs of the Fleet. With its stirring melodies, warm harmonies and rhythmic vitality, Stanford vividly and skilfully paints scenes of naval life in sound, ending with a moving and radiant tribute to those whose lives were lost at sea. Completing our concert are two works from Stanford’s student, John Ireland (The Island Spell and Sea Fever), and Elaine Hagenberg’s thrilling Measure Me, Sky!
Duration: 70 minutes, with an interval offering Prosecco and strawberries.
