Happy New Year!

It’s official: I’m back in New Zealand for a couple of months! I’m delighted to be performing the role of Silvio in I Pagliacci for Hawkes Bay Festival Opera, presented alongside Cavalleria Rusticana as part of the Art Deco Festival in February. I’m very grateful to the Dame Malvina Major Foundation for sponsoring my role, enabling me to come from London to sing here.

I fly to Napier to begin rehearsals later this month. While I’m there, I will be coaching some of the younger singers on Festival Opera’s wonderful Prima Volta programme, sharing with them some of the techniques I’ve learned in my career so far. I’m looking forward to it all immensely!

The show is on on 18, 20, 22 and 24 February, conducted by Jose Aparicio. If you’re in Hawkes Bay, do check out Festival Opera’s website – would love to see you there.
I’m currently getting over the jet lag and having some R&R with family. It is great to have escaped British winter in exchange for some Kiwi summer! More news on future 2020 events soon – in the meantime, hope you all have an enjoyable start to this decade.
